Changes to the rules on regional hunting
On 27 January, the Tuscan Region has approved amendments to the two main regional rules on hunting: LR 20/2002 (relative to the timing of hunting) and LR 3 / 94 (relating to the implementing provisions of State Law 157 / 92). The Province of Pisa has brought significant contributions (aimed mainly to the need for simplification and clarity, technical and administrative) during the long process of discussion started over a year and a half ago and culminated in the Regional Conference on Hunting in February 2009.
"A good law - says James Sanavio, Councillor for Rural Development and Defense Fauna of the Province of Pisa - trying to hold together the reasons for hunting conservation, environmental protection, agriculture and the preservation of its productions. Most of the changes made included the need to better manage the damage to crops, human activities and ecosystems created by the wild boar and, to a lesser extent, from other ungulates. The Province of Pisa, first in Italy, had in the first half of 2008 put in place a special plan to control the wild boar and deer in times / areas in hunting ban, in response, with the active cooperation of hunters, the need to manage organic and homogeneous populations of such species, with plans that involve complex and coordinated throughout the occupied territory and sensitive. In the same way - continues Sanavio - with changes to the regional law proposal has been accepted by the Province of Pisa control plan on the pigeon, other species that causes severe damage to crops. In terms of security was added to the obligation of regional high-visibility clothing for hunting wild boar and was expected to attend a new examination subject, that of security measures in the hunt for aspiring hunters. Compared to this delicate matter - precise Sanavio - we had clear commitments with the former Provincial Council. In this regard, I must also mention that changes in hunting, have strengthened the role of coordinating Hunting for the supervision by the Provinces. "
"Toscano, with its limitations, it was a useful path - concluded Sanavio - on which it was possible to build convergence between the various stakeholders (hunters, farmers, environmentalists), avoiding ideological conflicts or coups as it is happening nationally. "
